1988: Where It All Began
Founded as Toolout by Jeff Lloyd, we started as a specialist tool hire and sales company serving the power sector. The business focused on specialist tool hire and sales, offering a niche product range and service to the general power market.
1990: Building Our Specialist Range
In the early 1990’s, the utility sector was privatised and Toolout formed a strategic alliance with Raychem, diversifying into the electricity infrastructure industry and specialising in the distribution of power cable accessories.
Throughout the 1990’s Toolout continued its growth, forming strategic distribution partnerships with market leading companies such as Furse, 3M, and Cembre, expanding its leadership of the medium voltage (MV) power distribution sector. These alliances allowed Toolout to offer a fully comprehensive range of products and services within the specialist power cable accessories market.
1998: A New Name, A Bigger Vision
In 1998 Toolout changed trading name to Jointing Technologies to better reflect the new, expanded product range and relocated to Woking.
2001: Investing in Development
Jointing Tech continued its national expansion which included the acquisition of the Midlands based Power and Telecoms business as well as opening an office in Bristol.
2006: A New Generation of Leadership
Adam Lloyd became Manager Director, driving growth through new supplier partnerships with global brands like Pfisterer, ABB, and Prysmian, building on the strong company ethos and values whilst also focusing on delivering a best-in-class suite of products and services to the UK power industry.
2008: Growth in Distribution
National expansion continued throughout the 2000’s with new distributor agreements being signed including those with Pfisterer, ABB, Band-It, Centriforce, Tyco and Prysmian Group. A dynamic sales team was also brought on board to increase the company’s geographical coverage and deliver the unparalleled levels of service Jointing Tech are renowned for.
2012: Logistics Reinvented
Opened a purpose-built 20,000sq ft Distribution Centre in the Midlands, , fully stocking it with a multi-million pound inventory, allowing the company to deliver the largest range of power cable and power cable accessories across the UK.
2014: Strategic Acquisition
As well as creating a nationwide branch network, Jointing Tech invests in strategic business acquisitions which included the purchase of Langley Engineering. Langley Engineering supply transformers, voltage regulators and switchgear into the low, medium and high voltage markets both in the UK and overseas.
2017: Going Digital
Jointing Tech launched their online web shop, revolutionising the cable accessories market by becoming the only company in the sector to offer such a comprehensive range of specialist products for sale online. With hundreds of thousands of products from the leading names in the industry, many on a next day delivery, Jointing Tech brought convenience and quality to the industry 24/7.
2018: Manufacturing for the Future
Jointing Tech diversified into stainless steel cable cleat manufacturing. The extensive cleat range is certified to IEC 61914: 2015 and installed within major projects across the UK including Eleclink, Cross Rail and Transport for London (TFL) projects. Our certified cleats now support major infrastructure projects like the Elizabethan Line and Transport for London.
2021: A Strategic Partnership
Jointing Tech was acquired by the Wolseley Infrastructure Company, complementing Wolseley's existing Fusion Utilities Power business and collectively strengthening the joint position as the unrivalled, premier providers to the power industry.
2022: Investing in Growth
Acquired a new 20,000 sq ft flagship facility in Yate, Bristol to support our continued expansion and customer demand. This facility is extensively stocked for convenient order fulfilment across the UK wide network of branches
2024: Tactical Expansion
Wolseley Infrastructure opened a 150,000 sq ft purpose built sustainable fulfilment centre, setting an industry benchmark by combining extensive stock capacity with the seamless integration of commercial and warehouse operations to deliver exceptional service.
2026: Digital Innovation
Jointing Tech continues to lead digital innovation through the launch of its specialist industry app, providing fast, intuitive access to real‑time product data, streamlined navigation, one‑tap ordering, and timely push notifications. Fully integrated with the existing web platform, the app enables seamless and efficient digital management.
